Introduction of the department:
The Marathi Department has been functioning since the College's founding. Part I, II,
and III of the B.A. and Part I of the B.Com programs are taught in Marathi Department.
There are three professors in the department: two are employed full-time, and one is on
clock hour basis. With order to cultivate students' enthusiasm in the Marathi regional
language, improve their attitude toward language, and advance their language
proficiency. The department carries out research, investigations, teaching, and
activities aimed at equipping students with employable skills.
Through the drafting of research papers, projects, and field trips involving the
gathering, study, and analysis of folklore, an attempt is made to broaden the students'
research perspective and foster a research attitude in them.
Objectives of the Department:
1. To develop linguistic and literary skills
2. To develop reading ability among the students.
3. To conduct research in various areas of Marathi studies, including literature,
linguistics, and cultural studies
4. To develop aptitude among the students about Dialect & Folk Literature.
5.To organize literary festivals, workshops, and seminars to promote Marathi
language and literature.
